Here’s the honest oddity: the game has no MLB or MLBPA license, so Nolan Ryan is the only real, licensed player on the field - everyone else is fictional. And the timing was perfect. It shipped in 1991/92 right as the 44-year-old Ryan threw his record seventh no-hitter in May 1991 (the oldest pitcher ever to do it) and cemented an all-time strikeout record of 5,714 that still stands. So the one real guy they put on the box happened to be having one of the great late-career seasons in baseball history.
