The prototype dongles are early-build, cosmetic seconds of my production adapters. The only difference is the finish — heatshrink or an early case instead of the final 3D-printed enclosure, and sometimes a straight barrel jack rather than a right-angle one. Electrically they are identical to the production units: same trigger/passthrough circuit, same output voltage, each one tested and confirmed working.

Because they’re identical inside, the full setup, polarity, and troubleshooting instructions live on the production guides. Use the one that matches your version:

  • Sega Game Gear (9V) — outputs 9V through a USB-C PD trigger and requires a 9V-capable USB-C PD source (a plain 5V port or “dumb” cable won’t work; the LED lights when it has 9V). Also powers the Sega Genesis 2, 32X, Nomad, and Sega CD 2. Full instructions: Game Gear Lite USB-C PD Power Dongle.
  • Nintendo Game Boy DMG (5V) — a straight 5V passthrough that runs on any 5V USB port, no USB-PD required. Full instructions: Game Boy DMG Lite USB-C Power Dongle.

Questions about your unit are always welcome — message me any time.
